Frances Boyd Calhoun, author of “Miss Minerva and William Green Hill,” was born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, on Dec. 23, 1867, moved to Covington in 1880, married George Barret Calhoun in 1903, and published her well-known children's book only a few months before her death in June, 1909; she is buried one-half mile southwest of here in Munford Cemetery.
