Kinoshita Farm was acquired by the City Council of San Juan Capistrano, in cooperation with the Community Redevelopment Agency, through proceeds of the Open Space Bond Issue approved by citizens in April 1990. The Joel Congdon House, built on this site in 1877, is the city's oldest wooden structure. Kinoshita Farm is now operated as part of the City of San Juan Capistrano Public Lands System.
