Talbot House is one of Waynesville's oldest homes. Rev. Albert Washington Davis built it in 1885. After his death in 1888, his widow opened the family home to travelers as the Pulaski House. Dr. C.A. Talbot purchased it circa 1915, lived there with his family, and operated his medical practice from the residence for more than 30 years. During that time, the front veranda was updated to give patients a place to wait their turn with Doc. The house remained the headquarters for his practice until his death in 1945. His widow, Emma Pearl (Maude) Talbot, then rented rooms to boarders. Bonnie (Gibbons) Dobowski bought the home in 1969 and operated a boarding house and tax business there until her death in 1994. After seven years of neglect, Mary Ann and Keith Osborne bought the property in 2001 and began restoring it. Many original fixtures and lights remain, and after more than 130 years as a witness to downtown Waynesville's events, it now operates as Talbot House Antiques, Collectibles and Gifts.
