Veterans from the Laguna Madre area are honored as American patriots who rendered absolute loyalty to their country and democratic republic, preserved America and its Constitution through military service, shed blood on domestic and foreign soil for freedom, and in some cases gave their lives in battle. A tribute by Rudy H. Garcia in 2007 records their names across four plaques, including a fourth plaque for those killed in action: Rafael Barrera Jr., Manuel Barrientez, Adolfo Bejarano, Raymond Booth, Rey David Cuervo, Gualberto Gonzalez, and Louis McFarland.
