The Flight of Five Locks on the New York State Barge Canal, a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark of the American Society of Civil Engineers, was the greatest series of high lift locks in the shortest distance of any canal in the United States when it opened in 1915. Constructed in 1915, it was designated in 2011.
