Celebration Park in southwestern Idaho, along the Snake River near Melba and Walter’s Ferry, is Idaho’s first archaeological park and part of the Guffey Butte–Black Butte Archeological District on the National Register of Historic Places. It is especially significant for its in-situ Native American petroglyphs, some said to be more than 12,000 years old, and for its history as a seasonal home for Paiute communities and a wider use area for Shoshone and Bannock people. The park also preserves the 1897 Guffey railroad bridge, built to carry ore from Silver City, later restored for public use. Today it joins archaeological preservation with recreation.
