Kuna Caves, also called Kuna Cave, is a lava tube south of Kuna, Idaho, entered through a ground opening with a caged ladder into a main cavern about 50 feet deep. The cave runs roughly a quarter mile north and about 1,000 feet south; the southern passage is narrower and harder to navigate, ending in a very small turnaround space. Its interior stays near 56 degrees Fahrenheit year-round. Long tied to local stories about a once larger system, the cave later became a focus of debate over public access and preservation as damage, unsafe access, and vandalism increased, prompting a 2021 improvement proposal by the Bureau of Land Management.
