Mount Meeker, a 13,916-foot summit in Colorado’s northern Front Range, stands in the Twin Peaks Massif of Rocky Mountain National Park near Longs Peak. Though slightly lower than its famous neighbor, it is the park’s second highest summit and is often more visually prominent from parts of the Front Range because of its position. Some climbing routes on Mount Meeker are also considered more technically difficult than those on Longs Peak. Its history of naming spans cultures and eras, from Arapaho and French trapper names for the paired summits to the modern name proposed during the 1873 Hayden Survey and officially adopted in 1911.
