Wilbarger County dedicated this memorial on December 5, 1926, to its valiant sons of 1917—1918, holding them in grateful hearts with reverence and honor forever. Those named are Albert E. Robinson, Grady Miller, Carl Streit, Dewey Lyons, Charles S. McDonald, Robert C. Williams, Malcolm Brooks, Jesse Ashley, Milton Batchelor, George Moseley, M. D. Owen, J. E. Davidson, James W. Findley, Paul Schur, Ernest E. Lewis, and Roy B. McClure. It also honors the Gold Star Mothers. The "Spirit of the American Doughboy," by sculptor Ernest M. Viquesney of Americus, Georgia, was rededicated on Nov. 11, 2011, by the Doughboy Restoration Committee, with Larry Souza as chairman and Jack Stevens as sculptor.
