Beaverdam Creek is a protected wildland on upper Holston Mountain in the southern Appalachians, spanning parts of southwestern Virginia and eastern Tennessee within three national forests. Recognized by The Wilderness Society as a Mountain Treasure and included in federal roadless review, it has been shielded from road building and timber sales. The area contains miles of the Appalachian Trail, older logging roads and railroad grades from the early twentieth century, and diverse forests shaped by elevation. Its stream supports trout and the hellbender, while the wildland also includes rare plants, thousands of acres of late-successional forest, varied geology, and several archaeological or historic sites.
