The Valley Mills Santa Fe Railway Depot was a standard No. 9 combination freight-passenger depot built in 1910 on the Temple-Cleburne line of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway. It served as a local social center, especially at train time, when in the pre-radio and television era the conductor brought late news and traveling political candidates wooed votes. Highway travel and instant communication robbed the depot of its business and glamor. It was phased out in 1966 and relocated here as a museum in 1969.
