Henry Quigg was born in Ireland in 1826 and died in Conyers, Georgia, in 1907. He received A.B. and B.D. degrees from Erskine College and a D.D. from Emory University. He was ordained on September 26, 1856, by the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. He served as pastor of Hopewell from 1856 to 1867, joined the Atlanta Presbytery of the U.S. Church in 1867, served as pastor of Smyrna from 1869 to 1904, and served as pastor of Conyers in 1865 and from 1875 to 1895. He also taught school in Canada and Georgia, was the author of “Historic Smyrna,” and was a world traveler and civic leader.
