Davidson County’s first courthouse was built facing west in the center of the square, then torn down and rebuilt on the present site in 1856. It burned on November 23, 1865, was rebuilt, and was used until 1918, when it was remodeled by county commissioners D.S. Siceloff, A.M. Hiatt, and A.C. Smith. Its exterior was later restored and it was rededicated on September 11, 2014, under commissioners Larry W. Pott, chair, Todd Yates, vice-chair, Fred. D. McClure, Steve Jarvis, Billy Joe Kepley, Don Truell, Sam Watford, and Steve Shell.
