Reedy River Falls Historic Park and Greenway, now called Falls Park on the Reedy, is a 32-acre public landscape along both banks of the Reedy River in Greenville’s historic West End and is widely regarded as the city’s birthplace. Created after the Carolina Foothills Garden Club reclaimed former textile mill land in 1967, it transformed an industrial riverfront while preserving traces of earlier history, including a wall from a 1776 grist mill. The site also includes land once occupied by Furman University’s men’s campus. Its signature feature, the curving Liberty Bridge completed in 2004, helped establish the falls and greenway as one of Greenville’s defining civic spaces.
