Falls Park on the Reedy, a 32-acre park beside downtown Greenville in the historic West End, stands on land central to the city’s beginnings and later industrial growth. Reclaimed in 1967 from former textile mill property, it was extensively renewed in the late 1990s and continues to serve as an active civic space. Its signature feature, Liberty Bridge, is a 355-foot suspension footbridge completed in 2004 and honored for innovative design in 2005. The park also preserves traces of earlier eras, including a surviving wall from a 1776 grist mill, while surrounding land reflects later chapters such as Furman University’s former men’s campus and subsequent redevelopment.
