All veterans of Shamokin and Coal Township, living and dead, are honored for serving their country in all wars. The tradition of service is linked to earlier generations who served at Valley Forge, Yorktown, New Orleans, Vicksburg, and San Juan Hill; in the Argonne Forest, at Normandy, Anzio, Guadal Canal, and Korea; and in Cuba, at the Berlin Wall, and in Viet Nam. It also declares that if called to serve again, they will be there.
