Coldspring Methodist Church was built to the north on land given in 1848 by Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Rankin from an Austin Colony grant, moved in 1917 to a new site, and has a bell more than 100 years old. It was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1964.
