Established in 1906 by Nevada Lodge No. 354 of the International Order of Odd Fellows, this burial ground has served the community of Nevada, which Granville Stinebaugh founded in the 1860s and named after the Nevada Territory he passed through while traveling to seek gold in California. Nevada received a post office in 1880, and by 1888 the St. Louis Southwestern Railway had reached the growing community. The earliest burial here dates to 1907, and a number of those interred were victims of the 1927 tornado that killed 27 people. After Nevada Lodge No. 354 disbanded in 1954, the Nevada Cemetery Association began maintaining the property.
