Aviation Unmanned Vehicle Museum
Science & Tech
At Caddo Mills Municipal Airport in Caddo Mills, Texas, this aviation museum is devoted to the history of unmanned aerial vehicles, distinguishing itself from collections centered on piloted aircraft. It grew from the work and personal collection of Lt. Col. Harold F. “Red” Smith, a retired United States Air Force officer who entered drone manufacturing after his service and assembled unmanned aircraft in a 22,500-square-foot airport building. He began raising funds in 2014 to create a public museum but was killed in 2017 before it opened. His family continued the effort, and the museum opened on 16 May 2021 as the realization of his long-term commitment to preserving unmanned flight history.
