The Hudspeth Formation is a Cretaceous sedimentary rock unit in Oregon dating to the Albian stage of the Early Cretaceous. Much of it formed beneath shallow seas, conditions that preserved many marine fossils. Its importance lies in both its varied depositional environments and the fossils recovered from it. Along with abundant marine remains, the formation has yielded pterosaur and dinosaur fossils, making it one of Oregon’s notable fossil-bearing units from this period. It is also intertongued with the Gable Creek Formation, evidence that nearby sedimentary environments shifted and overlapped as these rocks were deposited.
