Residents of Sutersville and Gratztown were honored for service in World War I from 1914 to 1918, with named men from both communities recognized and Woodrow Wilson's 1918 words praising service in a righteous cause and in serving mankind. Sutersville residents were also honored for service in World War II from 1941 to 1945, while people from Sutersville were further recognized for service in the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954, including William R. Knox, killed in action; for active duty in the Merchant Marines during World War II; and for service in the Viet Nam Conflict from 1965 to 1973.
