It is dedicated to all who served and to all who fought in foreign wars, and remembers three men who lost their lives on the battlefields protecting freedom: James B. Black, Leonard “Mutt” Mayberry, and Anthony Grundy. James B. Black and Leonard “Mutt” Mayberry served in the U.S. Army during World War II and died in 1944, and Anthony Grundy served in the U.S.M.C. during the Vietnam War and died in 1968. It affirms that they did not die for naught, that the torch they threw was caught, and that millions of hands will hold it high so freedom’s light shall never die.
