Bald Mountain

Bald Mountain rises 13,690 feet in Colorado’s Front Range, southeast of Breckenridge, with its summit in Arapaho National Forest and the mountain stretching across Summit and Park counties. Although high and prominent, it is known as a non-technical thirteener whose standard route from Breckenridge is long and indirect, starting in forest and climbing into open alpine country. The mountain still demands respect, as thin air at this elevation can cause altitude sickness and afternoon thunderstorms pose real danger. In clear weather, the summit rewards hikers with wide views over the surrounding high country.
