Ute Lake State Park lies on New Mexico’s eastern plains about 2 miles west of Logan. The park centers on Ute Lake, an 8,200-acre reservoir on the Canadian River at an elevation of 3,762 feet. The reservoir was formed by the state-owned Ute Dam, completed in 1963 without federal funding. Ute Lake is the park’s defining feature, notable both for its large size and for fish habitat that supports species including largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, and walleye. Access to the park is by New Mexico State Road 540.
