In November 1909, the James Boynton Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy of Griffin and Spalding County erected a tribute of gratitude, reverence, and love to the soldiers of the Confederate States of America, honoring Spalding County's Confederate soldiers in everlasting remembrance of their heroic deeds, sublime self-sacrifice, and undying devotion to duty and country.
