Wm. A. (Bill) Slaubaugh was a devoted community worker, Good Samaritan, neighbor, husband, brother, and friend, a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the Brethern Church. He was instrumental in founding the Mt. Grove Volunteer Fire Department in 1981, was “King Fireman” in 1982, served as a member of the Aurora Lions Club and the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years from 1962 to 1984, was Union District Commissioner from 1980 to 1982, and was a life member of Aurora-Terra Alta V.F.W. Post #578. He is deeply missed by the community, and his memory endures for the charitable good deeds that made the community a better place.
