Red Hill, five miles east, was the last home and burial place of Patrick Henry, an orator of the Revolution. He moved there in 1796 and died there on June 6, 1799. Henry is especially famous for his “Liberty or Death” speech, delivered in 1775 at the beginning of the Revolution.
