Snyder County veterans who died while serving their country are remembered from the Civil War to the present day. Many Civil War veterans killed in action were buried in cemeteries south of the Mason Dixon line in mass graves or unmarked graves. World War I and World War II veterans were also buried in the same manner throughout Europe in national cemeteries. Most casualties from the Korean, Vietnam, Iraq, and War on Terrorism are buried in local cemeteries. These soldiers were at one time residents of Snyder County, and their sacrifices are remembered as part of the freedom enjoyed today.
