Nature
Gunstock Mountain is one of the highest peaks in central New Hampshire’s Belknap Mountains, rising more than 2,240 feet and standing just north of Belknap Mountain, the range’s highest summit. As the second-highest peak in the group, it is especially known for Gunstock Mountain Resort, a ski area valued for its views of Lake Winnipesaukee. The mountain also lies within the Merrimack River watershed. Water from its east side flows through Poorfarm Brook to Lake Winnipesaukee and the Winnipesaukee River, while runoff from its west side reaches the lake by way of the Gunstock River.
