First Baptist Church of Trussville was organized in 1821 as Cahawba Baptist Church, with Elder Sion Blythe, pastor; Anderson Robertson and Sherwood Holley, deacons; and John Stovall and Jordan Williams, trustees. It has been a member of the Canaan, now Birmingham, Baptist Association since its beginning in 1833.
