Part of the Old Crow Inn includes the oldest existing stone house in Kentucky, built in 1784 by Colonel Joshua Barbee on land James Wright had purchased from John Crow in 1781. The house was later enlarged and given Doric pillars, and in 180 years only three families owned it, with the Adams family owning it since 1899. John Crow came to Harrodsburg in 1774 with James Harrod and his group of 32, settled near here in 1776, and founded Crow's Station in 1782. From 1783 to 1785, when the Supreme Court met there, Crow's Station became the political and cultural capital for the District of Kentucky. In 1784, John Crow sold to Walker Daniel the land on which Danville was established in 1788.
