Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church was organized in 1889 by fourteen charter members. The congregation met in homes and other temporary sites until 1891, when members built a frame church here and Rev. Robert Henderlite became the first minister. Before that, preachers from Fairview and New Harmony churches served this area. In 1910, a larger brick veneered church with a three story bell tower was built to accommodate a growing congregation. The church was originally part of Enoree Presbytery. It has been remodeled several times, with updates to the sanctuary and the addition of Sunday School rooms. An education building was constructed in 1958 and later expanded. In 1969, extensive renovations increased the church's capacity, removed the original bell tower, and added a columned portico to the east entrance.
