During the Vietnam War, the destroyer USS Frank E. Evans DD754 collided with HMAS Melbourne R-21 on 3 June 1969, and sailors who served aboard the ship are remembered, especially those who paid the ultimate price while serving their country, including Ohio sailors SN James Fred Dykes III, STG3 Larry Allan Gracely, EMC Edward Philip Hess, and SA John Alan Sauvey.
