Sonoma Coast State Park
Nature

Sonoma Coast State Park extends along seventeen miles of publicly accessible Pacific shoreline in Sonoma County, from north of Jenner to Bodega Head. Rather than a compact park, it is a continuous coastal corridor of sandy beaches, rocky shore, marine terrace, steep bluffs, and striking sea stacks, shaped by uplift, erosion, and the nearby San Andreas Fault. Its habitats support tidepool life, marine mammals, prairie plants, deer, and birds. Human history reaches from Coast Miwok and Pomo habitation to Rancho Bodega, Russian logging, later agriculture, and coastal shipping. The park also includes the Kortum Trail and remains a major protected stretch of rugged northern California coast.
