The Marsh-Kellogg Creek Watershed Project was built under the Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act with a drainage area of 33,000 acres, a total capacity of 4,800 acre feet, a water surface area of 375 acres, a dam 58 feet high and 1,500 feet long, and 440,000 cubic yards of fill. It involved the Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, the Eastern Contra Costa Soil Conservation District, the Contra Costa Soil Conservation District, and assistance from the Soil Conservation Service of the US Department of Agriculture in 1962.
