Secrest Arboretum in Wooster, Ohio, is Ohio State University’s primary research arboretum, combining a botanical garden, research collection, and public landscape on 110 acres. Planting began in 1905, and Edmund Secrest formally established the arboretum in 1909 with the first layout for a proposed Forest Arboretum. Over time it grew into a living collection of more than 2,000 native and introduced species and cultivars of trees, shrubs, and other plants. Known for state champion trees, a notable dawn redwood collection, and the Garden of Roses of Legend and Romance, it also supports research, conservation, and public education.
