Calumet Plantation

Calumet Plantation was the home of Douglas C. Montan (1834-96), who named the plantation “Calumet” after the Indian name for peace-pipe. Montan represented Iberville and West Baton Rouge Parishes in the La. State Senate and wrote in 1856 a popular book entitled “Redstick” about life in Baton Rouge.
