This building served many commercial purposes from the late 1800's and early 1900's onward. Its single-story rear portion is thought to have been the original home of John and Mary Gardner, the town's namesake, and Ollie Haugner, who operated a shoe store here, is said to have moved it from the Gardner Ranch. Some of the building's lumber is thought to have come from the Lake Tahoe area. Frank Yparraguirre bought the land and building and operated Perry's Dry Goods, using Perry's as a shortened form of Yparraguirre, for more than four decades. Known for his sense of humor, Frank joked that he used dry goods in the business name because wet goods were available next door at the bar. The building remained in the Yparraguirre family name and is now home to Nettie's Fashions.
