Sheep Mountain, an 8,274-foot peak in the Okanogan Range of northern Washington, rises in the Pasayten Wilderness near the Canada–United States border on the east side of the Cascade crest. Its name reflects surrounding meadows once used for about 40 years as summer sheep pasture before wilderness protection ended grazing there. The Pacific Northwest Trail now crosses its slopes at Peeve Pass, linking the mountain to a major regional route. Like the broader North Cascades, the area was formed by tectonic accretion, volcanism, uplift, faulting, and repeated Pleistocene glaciation, which created its steep terrain and glacial valleys.
