Remmel Mountain, or Mount Remmel, is an 8,685-foot summit in Washington’s North Cascades and the highest point in the Cathedral Range. Rising in the remote Pasayten Wilderness near the Canada–United States border, it is the third-highest summit in the Okanogan Range and the most prominent mountain in the wilderness. Named in 1898 by Albert Hale Sylvester, it was first recorded as climbed on July 26, 1904, by Sledge Tatum and George E. Louden Jr. A Forest Service fire lookout built on the summit in the 1930s was later destroyed after repeated lightning strikes. The mountain stands in a landscape shaped by tectonic forces, uplift, faulting, and glaciation.
