A log cabin stood on part of the John R. Jones League, land granted by the Mexican Government in 1831. It was built between 1881 and 1886 on the John R. Jones League south of Round Top on Willow Springs Road. Reese and Darla Schmidt gave the log cabin to the Round Top Area Historical Society in 2003.
