Port Townsend Aero Museum
Science & Tech
Port Townsend Aero Museum, an aviation museum at Jefferson County International Airport in Port Townsend, Washington, was founded in 2001 by Jerry and Peggy Thoutte with six flyable aircraft operating from several airport hangars. In 2008, it moved into a dedicated building that gave the collection a more permanent home. After the Thouttes retired from daily operations in 2016, Michael Payne became director. The museum expanded further in 2018 by acquiring eight aircraft from the closed North Cascades Vintage Aircraft Museum. In 2022, work was underway on a 6,000-square-foot addition, reflecting the museum’s continued growth.
