This site was the fathers' residence and, after 1871, also the La Lomita Ranch headquarters. The first building here was constructed of adobe shortly after the original chapel in 1865. A newer five room residence replaced it in 1899. That structure was damaged by a hurricane in 1933 and eventually torn down in 1949.
