Jasper Woods is a 49-acre nature sanctuary in St. Clair County, Michigan, maintained by the Michigan Nature Association. Acquired in 1977 from Elva Rabidue, whose family had owned the land since 1869 as Schenck Woods, it was preserved for wildlife through a bargain sale at her request. In 1982, it was renamed the Elmer P. & Irene Jasper Woods Memorial in honor of Elmer and Irene Jasper, founding members and early leaders of the association. The preserve is a northern-type forest known for hemlock groves, other native trees, and spring wildflowers, including painted trillium, a Michigan endangered species found only in St. Clair and Sanilac counties.
