NKP number 1047 is a wooden caboose built by Lafayette Car Works in 1882. It was later used as a clubhouse for a Boy Scout club in a farmer's field in Michigantown, Indiana, until it was rescued in 1986. After 8 years of hard work, its restoration was completed, and it was moved into the building to protect it from the elements. It is the oldest car in the museum.
