Kate Mullany, an Irish immigrant, laundry worker, and nationally recognized labor leader, organized and led one of the earliest labor unions for women, the Female Collar Laundry Union, in Troy during the 1860's. Her house has been designated a National Historic Landmark and possesses national significance in commemorating the history of the United States of America.
