Rededicated on June 11, 2012, to the men and women of the US Armed Force who have sacrificed so much in the defense of liberty, the Liberty Golden Eagle is cast in bronze and copper, gilded in 24k gold, and proudly soars atop Jefferson Hall as a symbol of remembrance, rebirth, and renewal. Patrick Henry's words of March 23, 1775, in Richmond, Virginia—"I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!"—and the motto E Pluribus Unum, "Out of Many, One," underscore its meaning.
