Fort Polk-Vernon Wildlife Management Area is a 105,545-acre protected area in western Louisiana within the United States Army reservation at Fort Polk, about ten miles southeast of Leesville between Louisiana highways 28 and 10. Its name has changed with the military post that contains it, being renamed in 2023 along with Fort Polk and changed back in 2025 when Fort Polk regained its former name. Because the area lies inside an active military reservation, public access can be shaped by federal operations and policy. During the 2025 U.S. government shutdown, it closed until further notice, though some interior areas might still open for deer archery hunting through base contact.
