In Spring 1864 Miranda Campbell and her sons, Warren and David, and John B. Dunn and his family arrived here. Others followed, dug irrigation canals, and surveyed townsites into 1 acre lots. By Fall, 40 one-room log homes and a 16 x 20 ft. log schoolhouse with a huge fireplace had been built, with James H. Hart and Geoge Osmon as teachers. David B. Dille served as presiding elder of the branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In 1877, the ward was organized, with William Hulme as bishop. The pioneer curfew and school bell is associated with this early settlement.
