Foerster Peak is a remote mountain in California near the boundary between southeastern Yosemite National Park and the Ansel Adams Wilderness, in a high Sierra setting among prominent surrounding peaks and lakes. More than 10 miles from any road, it is notably isolated and is valued for its solitude and position in one of the more distant parts of the Yosemite high country. Named for Lewis Foerster, a U.S. military member on duty in Yosemite in 1895, it is also one of three Sierra Peaks Section listed summits along this boundary. Climbers generally regard it as a non-technical but serious backcountry ascent shaped by its long approach and roadless setting.
